Why Live Dictation?

LiveDictation.com is where court reporting students go to find the high-quality, LIVE dictation necessary to increase speed, accuracy and confidence. LiveDictation.com gives you the edge needed to quickly improve your machine shorthand speed. LiveDictation.com is designed as the perfect addition to any court reporting program.

Who We Are

Licensed as a California Certified Shorthand Reporter in 1981, I know what it takes to pass the Shorthand Report’s exam and be successful as a court reporter. As an instructor, I have helped 100’s of reporting students increase their skill. I know what works.

I developed LiveDictation.com to give motivated court reporting students a cost effective way to increase their speed, accuracy, confidence and success. Each class is designed to improve vocabulary, endurance, and most importantly, speed.

The Practice You Need

Unlike other court reporting programs, you decide how many classes to attend, and pay as you go. With LiveDictation.com, there is no software to purchase and no contract to sign, so it’s easy to give yourself that extra boost when you need it.

Live dictation is essential for rapidly progressing from one speed to the next. Testimony in court or depositions is live. Practice should also be live. Exposure to real situations increases your speed and accuracy while reducing anxiety.

Improving Your Skills

The trend for court reporting schools is to cut back on teachers and to rely on recorded dictation. While recordings allow the student to master specific vocabulary, build muscle memory and basic skills, recordings do not give those trying to learn the skill of court reporting everything necessary to master that skill. To learn machine shorthand, live dictation is essential. Only live dictation will quickly give the speed and accuracy necessary to graduate and be licensed as a court reporter, CART provider, or closed captioner.

Consider the concert pianist and how many times the scales must be practiced. Repeating the fundamentals is essential. But until playing “live for an audience” the pianist doesn’t truly understand the pressures and the stresses that come with performance. The same is true for the reporting student. Recorded dictation is fine for practicing the fundamentals. But before becoming a court reporter, CART reporter or closed captioner, you must master live dictation on unfamiliar material.

A Convenient and Efficient Way to Practice

With LiveDictation.com in your practice routine, you will spend less time and money, while eliminating frustration and boredom. LiveDictation.com offers daily dictation at various speeds.

If you are tired of being stuck at the same speed, practicing on memorized material; if you are tired of paying exorbitant sums of money for the privilege of listening to a recording over and over; if you are tired of not realizing your goal; LiveDictation.com is your answer.

LiveDictation.com will help you attain your dream and take your writing to the next level.
